Davao Light and Power Company, Inc. (Davao Light) welcomes the issuance of the Supplemental Writ of Possession dated May 15, 2026, by the Regional Trial Court Branch 2 of Tagum City.
This new decision covers the remaining additional distribution assets in Tagum City and surrounding areas in Davao del Norte, ensuring full and complete take over of operations by Davao Light as granted by Republic Act No. 12144.
In its Order, the Court granted to Davao Light the lawful right to possess and operate all distribution assets held by NORDECO. Pursuant to the said Order, the Sheriff of the Regional Trial Court has formally served the Notice to Vacate to Northern Davao Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NORDECO).
With the incoming implementation of the Supplemental Writ of Possession, Davao Light can now fully serve Tagum City and the municipalities of Asuncion, San Isidro, Kapalong, Talaingod, and New Corella in Davao del Norte.
It may be recalled that the issuance of the Writ of Possession comes after the Supreme Court affirmed the constitutionality and validity of Republic Act No. 12144, the law that expanded the franchise area of Davao Light, to include all those areas mentioned in the Writ of Possession.
Davao Light remains committed to ensuring a smooth, orderly, and lawful transition process with minimal disruption to consumers. The company remains hopeful for the cooperation of NORDECO’s Board of Directors and officers to help facilitate the transition, ensure the safety of personnel on the field, and support the continued delivery of reliable electric service for the benefit of customers in the expanded franchise areas.
