On March 25, 2026, the Sheriff of the Regional Trial Court - Tagum Branch 2 formally executed the writ of possession of utility assets in Davao del Norte. Pursuant to a court mandate, the Sheriff took possession of four substations previously operated by the Northern Davao Electric Cooperative (NORDECO), three in Tagum City and one in the Municipality of Asuncion, and will lawfully turn over the possession and control of these assets to Davao Light and Power Company, Inc. (Davao Light). The turnover also includes the NORDECO office in Tipaz, Magugpo, Tagum City.

The turnover is supported by a trial court ruling dated February 27, 2026, which granted Davao Light’s application to obtain possession of the assets. The court Sheriff likewise served a Notice to Vacate with the Writ of Possession on March 16, 2026.

This step is part of Davao Light’s preparations to begin operations in Tagum City and across Davao del Norte, ensuring that residents and businesses will soon benefit from reliable and efficient electricity service.

Davao Light is still hopeful for the cooperation of NORDECO’s Board of Directors and officers to facilitate a smooth and orderly transition, minimize disruption to customers and the community, and ensure the safety of personnel working in the field.
