Switching power interruptions on January 31 and February 1 in Davao City

Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) will conduct a series of switching power interruptions on Saturday and Sunday, January 31 and February 1, 2026, in different parts of Davao City. These are necessary to facilitate electrical works for the underground cabling project along R. Magsaysay Avenue and line activities at Ecoland Substation.


To avoid a longer power interruption, the loads from the affected lines will be transferred to a nearby substation for 30 minutes anytime between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31. Meanwhile, the normalization or return of loads to their normal setup will be conducted for 30 minutes anytime between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 1.


Specifically affected are those from Sta. Ana Avenue going to Bruno Gempesaw Street and Monteverde up to Villa Abrille Street; portions of Lizada Street, F. Bangoy Street up to Leon Garcia Street fronting AISAT and nearby areas; Brgy. Lapu-Lapu, Brgy. Centro Extension Agdao, Davao Fire Fighters, Alumina Industries, Agdao Flyover, Gotamco Agdao, and portions of Leon Garcia Street, and from Sta. Ana Avenue to Gempesaw Street to the entire Boulevard up to Bolton Bridge, and the nearby areas.


To facilitate the necessary works, an 8-hour power interruption will be conducted from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 1. Customers from Davao Light Sta. Ana Substation to Security Bank Monteverde, portions of Monteverde Street, Lizada Street, F. Bangoy Street, up to the Bureau of Fire Region 11 Office, and from the corner of Magsaysay Street and Gempesaw Street to BDO Network Bank Gempesaw Street will be affected by this service disruption.


Another transfer of loads will be conducted for 30 minutes anytime between 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 1, affecting customers from the entire Juna Subdivision, from Tulip Drive up to Ateneo Grade School, Acacia Street, and up to Bolton Bridge and nearby areas; from Qurino Avenue going to Bankerohan areas including Fr. Selga Street, San Pedro Extension, and portions of A. Pichon Street from Quirino Avenue to WS Shopping Center, and portions of Sandawa, New Matina areas up to MTS.


Meanwhile, the normalization will be conducted for 30 minutes anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 1, affecting the entire Juna Subdivision from Tulip Drive up to Ateneo Grade School, Acacia Street, and up to Bolton Bridge and nearby areas.


Lastly, an 8-hour power interruption will be conducted to facilitate the necessary works on Sunday, February 1. This will be from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., affecting customers from Juna Subdivision from 1st Avenue corner Tulip Drive up to the corner of Champaca and Acacia Streets.


Davao Light apologizes for the inconvenience caused by these scheduled power interruptions. But it will exert all efforts to restore electric service as scheduled or earlier. However, there may be instances where restoration may extend beyond the schedule due to unavoidable circumstances.


Safety is paramount to the company, and Davao Light reminds the public to always take extra precautions when passing by activity areas where line repairs and maintenance are being done. Please heed and follow warning signs, especially in areas where personnel operate heavy equipment.
