Switching power interruptions on August 31, September 1, and 2 in Davao City

Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) will conduct a series of switching power interruptions on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, August 31, September 1, and 2 in different parts of Davao City. 


The first power interruption is necessary to facilitate substation works at Calinan Substation. To avoid a longer power interruption, the loads from the affected lines will be transferred to a nearby substation for 1 hour from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 31.


Specifically affected are those from Guiho Road to Davao-Bukidnon Road corner Biao Road (near DCWD Tugbok) via Davao-Bukidnon Road; Campo Cienco Road, and nearby areas; Calinan-Baguio-Cadalian Road via R. Magsaysay Street and Datu Abing Street; Kalye Apeke and portions of Villafuerte Street, and nearby areas; Davao-Buda National Highway, covering areas of Brgy. Lacson, Gumalang, Suawan, and Marilog.


The second set of switching power interruptions is necessary to conduct substation works at Toril Substation, line works from Toril Substation to GMall Toril, and at Quimpo Boulevard. The loads from the affected lines will be transferred for 45 minutes anytime between 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 31. Meanwhile, the normalization or return of loads to their normal setup will be for another 45 minutes anytime between 1:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. on Monday, September 1.


Customers from the entire Toril to the Carabao statue, Eden Bayabas, including Lubogan, Tagakpan, Manambulan, and nearby areas; entire Dumoy going to Daliao Toril, including Vales Beach; going to Libby road Toril Memorial via Bago Aplaya road, and nearby areas; entire Puan to Mercury Ulas, from Carabao Statue, Saavedra Street, Toril up to entire Binugao, including Sirawan, and Catigan will be affected by these service disruptions.


Also affected are those from corner Gempesaw Street and Ramon Magsaysay Avenue to Leon Garcia Street, from Soliman Street, Agdao to portions of F. Bangoy Street to N. Torres Street, Obrero; Sta. Ana Avenue to Lizada Street, Quezon Boulevard to Bolton Bridge, including Bucana, City Hall, and SP Building, portions of Pichon Street and Bolton Extension, and neighboring areas.


Customers from the entire Maa area, Diversion Road to Jade Valley, Juliville to Tigatto, Mandug, Callawa, and Indangan, and all neighboring areas; Diversion Road going to Bean Xpress Matina Pangi Diversion and neighboring areas; Entire Ecoland to McArthur Highway, MTS, Ateneo Grade School, Ecoland IT Park up to Davao Memorial Park; Quimpo Boulevard from Bolton Bridge going to South Grove; and the entire Tulip Drive up to Walnut Street will also be affected by these switching power interruptions.


In connection, a nine-hour power interruption will be conducted from 12:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 31. Specifically affected are customers from Davao Light Toril Substation to Crossing Bayabas Toril to Purok 5 ICC Lubogan Toril, and to BC Chicken House, including portions of Rasay Street, and from Malta Medical Center up to Cebuana Lhuillier, Crossing Bayabas Toril.


A separate normalization or return of loads to their normal setup will also be conducted for 45 minutes anytime between 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 31. Customers who will be affected are those from Nutri Asia Davao Plant to Crossing Bayabas Toril up to Purok 5 ICC Lubogan Toril, and to BC Chicken House, including portions of Rasay Street, from Julu Feeds going to Cebuana Lhuillier, Crossing Bayabas Toril.


Lastly, a transfer of loads will be conducted in preparation for upcoming activities related to the shutdown of the NGCP Bunawan 69kV line and the line upgrading works of DRA Substation. This will be on Tuesday, September 2, for 45 minutes, anytime between 1:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Specifically affected are those from portions of Panacan from Unifrutti going to Tibungco and portions of Bunawan up to Daniel Perez Central Elementary School.


Davao Light apologizes for the inconvenience caused by these scheduled power interruptions. But it will exert all efforts to restore electric service as scheduled or earlier. However, there may be instances where restoration may extend beyond the schedule due to unavoidable circumstances.


Safety is paramount to the company, and Davao Light reminds the public to always take extra precautions when passing by activity areas where line repairs and maintenance are being done. Please heed and follow warning signs, especially in areas where personnel operate heavy equipment.
