Davao Light energizes 29th substation to boost reliability, support economic growth in Davao del Norte

Powering a Special Economic Zone. Inaugurated on August 25, 2026, Davao Light’s 10 MVA 69/13.8 kV San Pedro Substation is designed to meet the power demands of the Anflo Industrial Estate (AIE), a Special Economic Zone, and increase capacity across Panabo and its surrounding areas. Designed for long-term load expansion, Phase 2 of the project will add 33 MVA capacity and is set for completion by December 2027.

Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) inaugurated its 29th distribution substation on August 25, 2026, reinforcing power reliability and supporting continuous economic growth in Davao del Norte.

Located in Brgy. San Pedro, Panabo, the 10 megavolt-ampere (MVA) 69/13.8 kilovolt (kV) San Pedro Substation was energized on August 2 and successfully loaded on August 8. The new facility is designed to meet the power demands of the 63-hectare agro-industrial park, Anflo Industrial Estate (AIE), a Special Economic Zone accredited by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA). As the fourth substation in Panabo City, the facility will increase power capacity across the city and its surrounding communities.

The inauguration marks the official completion of Phase 1 of the project. Designed for long-term load expansion, Phase 2 will add 33 MVA capacity and is set for completion by December 2027. Upon completion, the facility will operate as a fully digital substation with automated monitoring and real-time data transmission, allowing Davao Light engineers to identify and resolve issues efficiently. The facility will also incorporate sustainable features, including a solar power system for lighting and other facility needs, as well as a rainwater harvesting system to support cleaning and routine maintenance.

The project is part of Davao Light’s ongoing network upgrading and expansion to support growing power demand across its franchise area.

Ceremonial Switch-On. Davao Light Senior Assistant Vice President-North Davao Arnel Bersabe and Damosa Land, Inc. President Cary Lagdameo led the ceremonial switch-on of the San Pedro Substation on August 25, 2026, at the Anflo Industrial Estate (AIE). Also present were ANFLO Group of Companies Vice Chairman Ricardo Floirendo, Davao Light SAVP Engineering Support Allan Calag, AVP Technical Projects and Integration for North Davao Cirilo Nanual, Jr., and representatives of AIE locators.
