Davao Light underground cabling activities in C.M. Recto 100% complete

C.M. Recto Street, one of Davao City’s old thoroughfares, looks anew as Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light), an AboitizPower distribution unit, completes its underground cabling activities from corner San Pedro Street to corner Ramon Magsaysay Avenue.

 

"The underground cabling along C.M. Recto Street is now fully energized with all customers in the area connected. We finished removing power lines, distribution transformers, 64 Davao Light poles, and energized the street lights in the area. We reached 100% percent completion

Nesting pawikans at the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park increases in number

It is a fact that no matter how far in the world marine turtles may wander, they will always find their way back to lay eggs in the same area where they were hatched.

 

Two pawikans were seen laying eggs last June 7 and 9, 2021 at the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park, an eight-hectare ecological preserve managed by Davao Light and Power Co., Inc and Aboitiz Foundation, Inc..

Davao Light explains unplanned power outages affecting its franchise area on July 22 and 23

On the afternoon of July 22, 2021 the Mindanao Power Grid encountered two sets of system disturbances due to a transmission line problem and an unplanned outage of a power plant. These caused power outages in many parts of Mindanao affecting customers of Davao Light and Power Co., Inc..

 

The first system disturbance occurred at 12:44 p.m. due to an unplanned outage of National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) 230 kV Toril-Matanao Line 2. This subsequently caused the tripping or automatic shut off of the 300 MW Units 1 and 2 of San Miguel Consolidated Power Corporation (SMCPC) Power Plant in Malita, Davao Occidental.

Davao Light releases 149 newly-hatched pawikans

Davao Light and Power Co., Inc., an AboitizPower subsidiary, welcomed another batch of pawikan hatchlings at the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park in Sitio Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, Davao City last June 29, 2021. A total of 149 pawikan hatchlings were released and they were from the third nest discovered last April 30.
