Switching power interruptions on May 16 in Davao City

Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) will conduct switching power interruptions on Saturday, May 16, 2026, affecting different parts of Davao City. This is necessary to facilitate electrical works and pole removal for Phase 2 of the Underground Cabling Project along R. Magsaysay Avenue.


To avoid a longer power interruption, the loads from the affected lines will be transferred to a nearby substation for 30 minutes any time between 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. Meanwhile, the normalization or return of loads to their normal setup will be conducted for 30 minutes any time between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.


Specifically affected are those from Sta. Ana Avenue going to Bruno Gempesaw Street and Monteverde up to Villa Abrille Street; portions of Lizada Street, F. Bangoy Street up to Leon Garcia Street fronting AISAT and nearby areas; from Happy Choice R. Castillo Road going to MATS up to Agdao Flyover, Gotamco Agdao, and portions of Leon Garcia Street.


Also affected are those from Sta. Ana Avenue going to Gempesaw Street up to entire Boulevard area up to Bolton Bridge and nearby areas; from Bangoy Fire Station going to Vivaldi, Jacinto Street Unionbank going to J. Luna Street, including J. Dela Cruz Street; and from Landbank R. Magsaysay Branch going to Bohol Trading; and along Quezon Boulevard from crossing Bruno Gempesaw Street up to near LTO Regional Office XI, including Colasas, areas surrounding City Hall, and nearby areas.


To facilitate the necessary works, an 8-hour power interruption will be conducted from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., affecting customers from Davao Light Sta. Ana Substation up to Security Bank Monteverde, portions of Monteverde Street, Lizada Street, F. Bangoy Street, up to Bureau of Fire Region 11 Office; from the corner of Magsaysay Street and Gempesaw Street going to Quezon Boulevard area, including Isla Verde, Piapi, and Mabini Boulevard up to 711 Boulevard corner Artiaga Street.


Also affected are customers along Bruno Gempesaw Street from Davao Light Sta. Ana Substation up to crossing Quezon Boulevard; and from Bangoy Fire Station going to R. Magsaysay Avenue, including Acacia, Vivaldi, DICT Office, Jacinto Street, J. dela Cruz Street, Guerrero Street, Suazo Street, and Sales Street, and nearby areas.


Davao Light apologizes for the inconvenience caused by these scheduled power interruptions. But it will exert all efforts to restore electric service as scheduled or earlier. However, there may be instances where restoration may extend beyond the schedule due to unavoidable circumstances.


Safety is paramount to the company, and Davao Light reminds the public to always take extra precautions when passing by activity areas where line repairs and maintenance are being done. Please heed and follow warning signs, especially in areas where personnel operate heavy equipment.
