Power restoration of main lines in flood-affected areas continues

Power restoration of the main lines in the flooded areas caused by Typhoon Vinta last December 22 continues.

Still without power as of the issuance of this advisory are Jade Valley, Don Julian, Sitio Uyanguren Tigatto, Sitio Gulf Tamugan, DUWHA Road in San Rafael, Domsat and Maa-Riverside.

Already restored with power are most parts of El Rio Phase 5, SIR, Magallanes, AWHAG-Riverside, Spring Village, DDF-Mandug and Matina Gravahan.

In addition to that, partially restored are some parts of DECA Tigatto, Juliville Village, GEM Village, San Antonio Bacaca, lower Madapo and lower Waan.

Davao Light, since December 23 assembled several crews in order to expedite the repairs of the power lines and connections. Restoration of power, however, were hampered by inaccessible areas and wet electrical outlets and meters.

The electric utility's EVP and COO, Engr. Rodger Velasco, said, “Safety of our customers is of paramount importance to the company. In our restoration efforts, we have to ensure that possible incidents of fire or electrocution are avoided.”

Since December 23, Davao Light crews started replacing wet meters just to hasten restoration of power on individual homes. They also prioritized streetlights to provide illumination in some areas.

In order to fast track the electricity supply in the affected areas, Davao Light advises its customers, the following: [a] ensure that the convenience outlets and main switch / breaker system are clean and dry [b] have a competent electrician inspect the internal house wiring. They may contact the Association of Electricians thru these numbers: DAPREA – 226-2004, UEMD – 224-6174/09993621005, IEAD – 224-1529 or DURPEES – 284-6793
