Davao Light and NGCP team up in promoting electrical safety awareness

Cases of electrocution and electric shocks due to lack of awareness on the dangers of overhead powerlines have been continuously increasing. Hence, Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) teamed up to visit barangays to promote and strengthen awareness on electrical safety.

Just recently, Davao Light and the NGCP visited the Barangays of Bato and Mulig in Toril, Davao City and Gredu in Panabo City, respectivelyThese areas were targeted due to the presence of high voltage power lines and transmission towers around its areas.

Davao Light Occupational Security, Safety, Health and Environment Department (OSSHED) Manager Engr. Edelito Fernandez together with OSSHED Supervisor Dante Borinaga talked about electrical safety on overhead power lines. Meanwhile Revenue Protection Department Supervisor Engr. Leo Apalisoc gave inputs about pilferage or electricity theft.

Representatives from the NGCP headed by Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Officer Michael Ligalig explained to the residents the dangers of being near high voltage power lines and transmission towers.

The event has also been an avenue for residents to raise their concerns and queries about the services of Davao Light and the NGCP.

Ensuring the public's safety is of paramount concern for both Davao Light and NGCP. Thus, they will continue to strengthen information dissemination of their safety campaigns.
