TESDA XI recognizes Davao Light for its skills and development, livelihood and employment programs

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region XI has once again recognized Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. and the Aboitiz Foundation for being its active partners in developing local communities. This isthrough facilitating skills and development, livelihood and employment programs that was awarded during the recently held 2018 Provincial Kabalikat Award of TESDA XI.

Project Basic Lineman's Training Center of Mindanao or BELT.CoM is one of the projects of Davao Light and Aboitiz Foundation that is in partnership with TESDA XI. Project BELT.COM aims to increase the pool of qualified linemen that will help address the shortage of qualified and certified linemen in the power industry. In Davao City alone, the demand for skilled linemen is very high with the increasing demand for power that would entail construction of new transmission and distribution lines.

Thus, capacitating TESDA with the right resources and skills required as well as build their capability will make them more effective and sustainable as they run their own Lineman Training Program.

Other projects that are also in partnership with TESDA XI are Project B.E.S.T. or Basic Electrician Skills Training, a community-based skills training that produces National Certified (NC2) electricians for those taking up Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) Course, and Project e.Lab (electrical laboratory), a training facility for public high schools that will be used for higher level skills training to produce NC3 electricians.
