Joyful giving to the Lumads

In a far-flung area in the Municipality of Sto. Tomas lies Maguintalunan Elementary School (ES), which students are mostly Lumad (Indigenous Peoples) children. These children are enthusiastic and ready to learn, however, going to school would be best for them if they have the necessary materials to equip them in school.

Hence, employees of the Panabo branch of Davao Light and Power Company geared last June 11, 2018 to donate school supplies to 120 students in Maguintalunan ES. Each student received school materials to help them in their learning. “This might be a small initiative but we hope that this will give an impact to the lives of the students.” said Engr. Paul Michael Cazar, Davao Light Panabo Branch Manager.

One of the employees, Honey Micabani, a mother herself with kids who are in school, stated that this activity is a rewarding experience for her. “Dapat makabalo jud ka magtabang sa atong eskwelahan labi pa kanang mga lumad. Ipakita gyud nato ang goodwill dili lang kay proud Dabawenyo ta kundi gusto gyud ta mag-offer ug blessings sa matag-isa.” [We should really learn how to help our schools especially the lumads. Let’s truly show our goodwill not only because we are proud Davaoenos but because we really want to offer our blessings to each other.
