Davao Light welcomes another batch of Project B.E.S.T. graduates of Brgy. Matina Aplaya

Last March 9, 2018, Davao Light and Power Co. welcomed 21 graduates of the Project Basic Electrician Skills Training or Project B.E.S.T. from Brgy. Matina Aplaya, Davao City.

 

The Project B.E.S.T of Davao Light is a community-based project in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) XI that aims to provide opportunity for beneficiaries especially the out of school youth to become TESDA certified electricians.

 

“Davao Light and Power Company continues to look for ways to transform the lives of the community members that it serves by providing career readiness opportunities.” said Davao Light EVP and COO, Engr. Rodger S. Velasco.

 

 

The new graduates received a Certificate of Completion from TESDA after finishing the 20-day training. Davao Light also gave them electric tools to help them start with their new job as electricians.

 

 

"Thank you very much for this opportunity. When I saw the invitation from Davao Light and saw it's a graduation, I was glad because I'm also an educator and I'm very happy to see that there are people who are interested to learn, especially because they showed that they have finished the task, they have perfected and fulfilled all the requirements so I'm very proud and very happy for you." said First District Councilor Atty. J. Melchor Quitain during his testimonial speech.

 

 

Present to witness the graduation were Vice-President for Engineering Engr. Mark A. Valencia, Assistant Vice-President for Reputation Enhancement Rossano C. Luga and Community Relations Manager Fermin P. Edillon. Barangay Matina Aplaya Brgy. Captain Nestor B. Cirunay, Kagawad Jimmy Poliquit, TESDA XI's Provincial Director Engr. Nestor S. Tabada and Technical Education Specialist Junna C. Arnaez also graced the event.
