Dedicated linemen respond 24/7 to far-flung communities

Power-related emergencies can happen anytime so power utility companies like Davao Light and Power Co. Inc., an AboitizPower subsidiary, have dedicated linemen who are always ready to respond to power-related emergencies 24/7, even in far-flung communities within their franchise area.

Davao City alone has a land area of more than 2,400 sq.km. and Davao Light provides service up to the farthest areas of its reach.

Not long ago, an emergency call to Davao Light reported a power interruption due to a collapsed utility pole near Tamugan River in Marilog District, Davao City. Immediately, two teams of linemen, composed of ten men, were deployed to the field.

The linemen were met with various challenges along the way, yet despite that, they resolved the issue within 24 hours. Among the challenges the team experienced were the rough and muddy roads that caused the responding vehicle to get stuck, the need to transport electrical poles across the Tamugan River, navigating the area at night, and the manual replacement of the fallen pole. The team worked hard to deliver a promise of service to its customers and was thankful also to the community, especially to those who extended help in transporting the materials across the river.

"Davao Light is always grateful to our linemen, both organic and contractors whose dedication is absolute amidst all challenges in the field. Each time they respond to an emergency is not an easy feat and because of that, they are recognized and appreciated,” Orville Lazaro, Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Engineering Operations also expressed his gratitude.

Davao Light, an AboitizPower subsidiary, envisions to be a world-class electric utility with delighted customers and engaged stakeholders.
