Barangay Dalag, Marilog District now back to Davao Light serviced area

With a driving distance of 70 kilometers from the city proper, Barangay Dalag in Marilog District, Davao City will now be part again as a Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. serviced area.

A few years back, the local city government of Davao, Davao Light, Cotabato Electric Cooperative, Inc. (COTELCO) and Brgy. Dalag entered into an agreement for COTELCO to temporarily serve Brgy. Dalag. This is in view of the long distance from the existing line of Davao Light, which is along Lumondao.

Now that the Davao Light lines and poles have been finally extended to Brgy Dalag, Davao Light and COTELCO entered into an agreement for the former to take over the servicing of the said barangay.

A switch-on ceremony was conducted last January 25, 2019 to signify the successful transfer of a total of 38 customers to Davao Light.

The transfer involves the management, operation, maintenance and expansion of Barangay Dalag's power distribution service. This will further improve the electricity distribution system in the community and help the residents meet their demand for power supply.

The event was participated in by the Davao Light team together with COTELCO General Manager Godofredo B. Homez and his team, Congressman Alberto T. Ungab as represented by Cris Roldan, Salaysay Barangay Captain Roberto Itdang, Dalag Barangay Captain Oscar Labawan, and the residents of Brgy. Dalag and Brgy. Salaysay.

A joint meter reading was also conducted by both Davao Light and COTELCO after the ceremonial switch-on.

“We are glad to finally be of service to this community, which is long part of our franchise. We will extend, not only electricity service, but also our corporate social responsibility projects to them.” said Mervin Dalian, Davao Light Distribution Services Department Manager.

Last November 27, 2018, an orientation and an on-site contract signing to the new customers took place, considering their distance from the Davao Light offices.

The topics discussed during the orientation include Metering and Line Extensions, Billing and Collection, Electrical Safety, and Pilferage.

With a franchise covering the cities of Davao and Panabo as well as the Municipalities of Carmen, Dujali and Santo Tomas, Davao Light will continue to advance business and communities it serves.
