Mother pawikan spotted, lays nest at the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park

On the night of February 19, 2019, a mother pawikan was spotted on the shore of the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park in Sitio Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, Davao City on its way back to the sea.

The following day, Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. discovered a new batch of Pawikan eggs laid in the park. This is the second nest for the year.

The eggs are expected to hatch within the 2nd or 3rd week of April 2019.

Aboitiz Cleanergy Park is a known nesting ground of the critically endangered Hawksbill Turtle and since 2014, Davao Light has already released 3,482 hatchlings.

A female pawikan is known to lay eggs three to five times in two-week interval during mating season.

Davao Light will drive change for a better world through its sustainable efforts to protect and conserve the endangered species such as the pawikan and its habitat.
