Davao Light turns over 5 electrical laboratories to different public schools in Davao City

A brighter future towards achieving their dreams awaits to the students of five different public high school beneficiaries as Davao Light and Power Co., Inc in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation formally turned over five electrical laboratories (e.Lab) last March 22, 2017 at the Francisco Bangoy National High School in Sasa, Davao City to the Department of Education's (DepEd).

The school-beneficiaries of the five e.Labs are Jesus J. Soriano National High School, Francisco Bangoy National High School, Pablo Lorenzo National High School, Tugbok National High School and Dacudao National High School.

The e.Lab is a project, which is in support to DepEd's Technical Vocational courses for the K to 12 curriculum. This fully-equipped facility will serve as the training ground of the senior high school students particularly those who will be taking up the Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) Course.

Davao Light and the Aboitiz Foundation have already donated and turned over 11 e.Lbs to different public high schools within the Davao Light franchise area. As of March 22, a total of 16 e.Labs were already turned over to the Department of Education.

Present during the formal turnover were Davao Light President Jaime Jose Y. Aboitiz, 2nd District Congressman & Deputy Speaker for Southern Mindanao Mylene Garcia, representing the Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte Councilor April Mae Dayap, Head of the Committee on Education Councilor Pilar Braga, DepEd Assistant Regional Director Dr. Teresita G. Tambagan, and Regional Director of TESDA XI Dir. Gaspar Gayona.

Also present were Barangay officials and principals coming from the beneficiary schools.

We want to help this young generation as they venture to learn and develop their skills in becoming electricians. We hope to encourage them to pursue further training to become linemen and continue education to become electrical engineers.” Jim Aboitiz said.

A key of responsibility was handed over by Davao Light's President, Jaime Jose Y. Aboitiz and received by Dr. Teresita G. Tambagan, DepEd's Assistant Regional Director and the principals of the beneficiary schools.

Two more e-labs will be turned over within the year to other public schools located in the Davao del Norte franchise area of Davao Light.

I trust that Davao Light and Power Co., Inc will continue lighting the way of our communities not only by bringing electricity, but by providing educational support throughout more communities in Davao City.” stated Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio in her speech through Councilor Dayap.

In its commitment to advance communities and drive change for a better world, Davao Light has reached Paquibato and Marilog Districts and will continue to reach more schools situated in far flung areas.

A simple song was presented and dedicated by the students of F. Bangoy National High School as a sign of their overwhelming gratitude to Davao Light and the Aboitiz Foundation.
