Davao City Public Schools receive equipment for module production from Davao Light

The Sta. Ana Central Elementary School (SACES), which is one of the module production hubs of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Davao City, was chosen as one of the beneficiaries of Project Module by Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) and its social development arm, Aboitiz Foundation, Inc..

The turnover of the equipment was held on March 10, 2022 at the Science Exploration Laboratory of the school, which was previously donated by Davao Light. The event was attended by DepEd XI Regional Director, Dr. Allan Farnazo who said, “It takes a village to raise a child and this is the type of community and nation that we will show [to our children]." Farnazo also expressed that the COVID19 situation has put the educators in very delicate situations. "We work with different interest groups and different sectors, but the bottomline is how we’ll push the good agenda of education for all," Farnazo added.

Hon. Councilor Pilar Braga, Committee Chair on Education, Science and Technology, Arts and Culture has also expressed her gratitude on behalf of the City Government of Davao. "I will say that investing in education will never go wrong. Money can be stolen or misplaced, but education will be there forever. Education is the best thing we can give to our children," Braga said.

Since the Project Module was initiated, Davao Light has identified its beneficiaries on a need-based concept. “We believe in quality education and we put value in something that will bring good. Good to the learners, the young minds who will one day become the leaders of our community,” Rodger Velasco, the President and COO of Davao Light, said.

The project includes a photocopying machine, two printers, nine laptops with accessories for online learning, and several boxes of office supplies. On March 4, 2022, the same items were also donated to Mintal Comprehensive National High School, another module production hub in Davao City.

Nilda Ebate, SACES school principal, has acknowledged how the previously donated science exploration laboratory and all its equipment, as well as the robotics program and robotics kit from Davao Light and Aboitiz Foundation have greatly helped their students achieve academic excellence. The Sta. Ana Central Elementary School, through its Special Science Elementary School (SSES) Program is known for honing its students in Science, Math, and English.

Davao Light, an Aboitiz Power subsidiary, will continue to support the education of children especially in its franchise area which covers Davao City, Panabo City and the Municipalities of Carmen, Dujali and Sto. Tomas.
